According to reports, The Vande Bharat Express will begin its commercial run between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra October 5 onwards.

Train number 22439 New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express will depart from the New Delhi railway station at 6am to reach Katra at 2pm. On route, the train will halt at Jammu Tawi, Ambala Cantt and Ludhiana for two minutes each. Train 18 will run on all days of the week except for Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah, Union Minister flagged off the train and he said, 'Every Indian had a feeling that (Article) 370 should go. The Narendra Modi government did it. The special status was the biggest impediment in the development of J&K. .... Kashmir will be one of the most developed regions in the next 10 years....the process has begun with the inauguration of the Vande Bharat train.

He added on by saying, 'Mahatma Gandhi used the railway network to connect with people and gain Independence. Independence struggle got momentum as he used railway journeys to send his message across. Just like Independence, the railways will be an important tool in achieving the $5 trillion economy goal of PM Modi'. He was accompanied by Union Ministers Jitendra Singh, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Harsh Vardhan.

However, Jitender Singh said 'the abrogation of Article 370 provisions in J&K was a gift for the people of the region after three decades of struggle' and the launch of the train was another gift that would contribute in building a new Jammu and Kashmir. The Vande Bharat Express will bring new India to a new Jammu and Kashmir.
