Indian Meteorological Department gave media brief on Monsoon weather & Cyclone Storm ‘Nisarga’ on 1st June 2020 stating the depression over the Arabian Sea and mentioned it will going to hit in 24 hours to Maharashtra and South Gujarat coasts between Harihareshwar, Raigad, Maharashtra, and Daman on 3rd & 4th June  2020.  Maharashtra and Gujarat coastal areas will experience strong winds and heavy rainfall will be due to Cyclonic Storm “Nisarga’

Harsh & Strong Wind blows at the speed of 85 kmph up to 110 kmph and cyclonic storm intensity for about 6 hours which moving north-northeastwards across North Central Maharashtra.

Indian Meteorological, Government of Maharashtra & Gujarat have taken all precautionary measures to protect the people & property, Fishermen alerted not to venture out into the sea, People surrounding the sea area has been evacuated, provided shelter in Schools & Community Hall. Chief Minister has given clear instruction which needs to be followed during the harsh situation.  We are yet to ascertain the damage caused by Cyclone Strom Nisarga.

World Meteorological Organization, United Nations Economic & Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific agreed to assign names, create Awareness, Warnings and disseminate to wider masses. to tropical cyclones in the Bay of Bengal & Arabian Sea.  Countries on the panel include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Thailand, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE & Yemen. 

6 Regional Specialized Meteorological Centres (RSMCs) & 5 Tropical Cyclone Warning Centres (TCWCs) across the world are tasked with naming cyclones.  

In India, the IMD names the cyclones that develop over the North Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.

The list had 160 names that should be named not against any gender, politics, religion and & Culture and easy to pronounce.

Nisarga was a name given by Bangladesh in a list The word ‘Nisarga’ means nature or cosmo.
