Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has been admitted to Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road for observation, after testing positive with Covid-19.

Opposition party leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wished Yediyurappa a speedy recovery. "I wish Shri. B S Yediyurappa a speedy recovery & to return with good health to continue his work for the people," he tweeted on Sunday night.

The Chief Minister Yediurappa (77), is the second high-profile political leader to confirm testing positive for COVID-19 today after Amit Shah.

Medical education minister Dr Sudhakar, Deputy CM Ashwath Narayan and other leaders wished Yediyurappa a speedy recovery.

Total coronavirus cases in India have crossed the 17-lakh mark, with a surge in cases from the southern states. Active cases in India are now 567,730, with over 10 lakh recoveries so far as per the latest data. Over 37,000 people have succumbed to the virus so far in India.
