Bajaj Chetak first electric by Bajaj was revealed today after 14 years with which Bajaj has become the first Indian motorcycle brand to enter the electric space.

According to reports it was September 25, 2019 when the Production for the scooter began. However, Bajaj earlier said that they will launch the electric Chetak in Pune and will reveal the price there only in January 2020.

Meanwhile, Rajiv Bajaj MD of Bajaj Auto in the event said, "I hesitate to call it an aggressive price, but we'll price it attractively. It's not going to be as high as 1.5 lakh. After Pune, Bajaj will move on to Bengaluru as the company wants to study the market response before moving on to other cities. Bajaj will stick to its existing network for the Chetak e-scooter. The scooter also qualifies for the FAME II subsidy.’

Talking about Chetak only battery specs and motor has not been revealed so far, but the e-scooter will use an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack. Meanwhile, the scooter also features two riding modes i.e.; Eco and Sport as well as a reverse-assist feature. For which the company claims a range of 85km in Sport mode and 95km in ECO mode. Bajaj give the impression to have taken a unique route of using a swingarm-mounted motor that sends power to the rear wheel via a 'high-efficiency automated gearbox'.

However, Bajaj has furnished with the new Chetak with a fully-digital instrument cluster that will display a host of information. Decisions like this are expected to help Bajaj price the Chetak more competitively.

According to reports, Bajaj says that the scooter will have a number of connected features like vehicle parameter monitoring as well as security. The Chetak also gets a special mobile app that gives the rider an inclusive overview of many aspects of the vehicle and its ride history.

However, Bajaj venerated this launch with the Chetak Electric Yatra in New Delhi today.
