Following many pregnant women testing positive for coronavirus, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has designated one of its hospitals as a dedicated maternity centre, at some point when these women visited government hospitals for healthcare, a health department official said on Wednesday.
It has come to our notice that many pregnant women (during ANC/Natal/PNC period) who are seeking health care at our hospitals as outpatient or inpatient report as Covid positive at some point of time," said a health official.

Bengaluru has over 12,500 cases currently. With new COVID-19 cases continuously rising, new concerns are cropping in the state capital as offshoots of the pandemic. The BBMP has now seen a new issue as pregnant women who visit hospitals in the city for their checkups and procedures testing positive after.
Even such cases are being handled by BBMP referral hospitals and maternity homes, the official said there is still a need to assign one hospital as an exclusively allocate one for better compliance and to avoid simultaneous closure of hospitals for sanitisation.
