The eye is an important and one of the most complex sense organ that we humans are endowed with. It helps us in visualizing objects and also helps us in light perception, colour and depth perception. Besides, these sense organs are pretty much similar to cameras and they help us see objects when light coming from outside enters into them. A human eye is roughly 2.3 cm in diameter and is almost a spherical ball filled with some fluid.
A healthy eyesight can improve the performance of brain by 50 percent. As well all in the digital era its common to have eye problems.
One of the major problems is the constant staring on mobile or laptops it can cause you to tire eyes or red eye, which can lead to achy, weak or heavy due to intense use.
Here we are listing up few exercises to help your eyes to get relief from these problems:
Palming: Rub the palms of your hands vigorously, until they are warm and place them gently over your eyelids. You can feel the eye muscles relax as your eyes find relief in the darkness. Keep your hands on your eyes until the heat from the hands has been completely absorbed by the eyes. Repeat two to three times.
Blinking: Sit comfortably with your eyes open. Blink 10-15 times very quickly. Close your eyes and relax for 20 seconds. Repeat this 4-5 times.
Eye Press: Press your eyelids softly, apply a little pressure it will help provide some relief to your eyes. On lightly pressing of eyelid it will relax the muscles and you will feel relaxed.
Near and far focus: This is another focus exercise. It should be done from a seated position. Hold your thumb about 10 inches from your face and focus on it for 15 seconds. Find an object roughly 10 to 20 feet away, and focus on it for 15 seconds. Return your focus to your thumb. Repeat five times.
20-20-20 rule: Human eyes are not supposed to be glued to a single object for extended periods of time. If you work at a computer all day, the 20-20-20 rule may help prevent digital eye strain. To implement this rule, every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Side-To-Side eye movement: It will help relax your eye muscles and will help you get rid of a burning sensation when your eyes are tired.
Eye Massage: It will help reduce eye strains and dryness. Sit straight relaxing your body close your eyes and move your middle finger anticlockwise direction on your eyes. Repeat it 10 times.
Figure 8: It helps relax your eye muscles. All you need to do is imagine a big 8 in front of you and without moving your head trace the path along with the figure with your eyes. Repeat it 5 times.
Treat the eyelids: It's a type of yoga exercise for your eyes, which helps relax your eyes. All you need is to sit comfortably and with ring figure gently massage your lower eyelids. Start with inner edge and slowly move outwards. Repeat it for few minutes.
